These pages are a response to the impending major conflict in the Middle East. It is expected that it will be a nuclear war in which will be used against Iran, Syria and possibly some other countries especially American and Israeli thermonuclear weapons. Many detailed studies of such scenario have been developed. Some analysts point out the possibility of the fights spreading out of the territory of the Middle East. The opinions concerning the pace of the conflict spreading differ. Some speak about hours or days, others speak about weeks or months. Only time will tell what is really going to happen.
After the end of the Cold War the civil defense started to be perceived as useless in many countries. There was no longer any education about the effects of weapons of mass destruction and protection against them, many shelters are unusable these days and the civil defense in many countries exists more or less on paper only.
With regard to the international situation and lack of adequate literature and courses on protection against the effects of weapons of mass destruction we decided to offer to the general public our knowledge in the form of analyses and courses. We focus on important and practically utilizable information. Too much detail, which is more appropriate rather for premises of a university, would become almost unusable by civilians in a real situation.
A lot of information on weapons of mass destruction is still confidential or the access to it is very restricted. We consider this confidentiality meaningless and believe that all people have the right to have access to this information. In the analyses are used information from public sources and information publicly available and this information will be even part of our specialized courses.
You will learn from the analysis what effects a nuclear burst would have on your house and the people who would be inside or in its vicinity. We also provide recommendations, which – if you respect them – would prevent you from problems in the form of radiation sickness, injuries caused by the blast wave, burn injuries or ignition of the inside furnishings of the house. The courses will be focused on protection of people and property against effects of weapons of mass destruction. It means, for example, self-dependent evaluation of the radiation situation outside the house (without using any devices), preparation of drinking water and food, as safe a passage through the contaminated area as possible, working in the contaminated area, …
Effects of weapons of mass destruction are often unprecedentedly exaggerated and many myths about them have been spread amongst people. The greater the fear of nuclear weapons and the less informed people are, the easier it is to evoke in them the feeling that protection against their effects is useless. In fact, in many cases simple protective precautions can work wonders.
In the event of a nuclear conflict many people would be left to themselves. The reason is there is a limited number of civil defense workers who could not help everywhere where needed. It would also be impossible for them to get in some areas. Waiting for them to come in a strongly contaminated area would be not only useless, but also thoughtless. In particular in such areas it is up to us to undertake quick and appropriate protective measures.
If there is no nuclear war, it will be excellent. However, if
there will be one, it will be a disaster, especially because
of many unnecessary casualties caused by ignoring the protective
measures against the effects of weapons of mass destruction. Necessary
knowledge is appropriate to acquire in the times of peace, since
a great amount of information needs to be processed. In the
time of the crisis it would be very difficult to learn this necessary
information because of the stress. There would be no time to read
through and learn thousands of pages of technical text, often in
foreign
languages, to get at least basic overview of protection against the
effects of weapons of mass destruction. Just a small basis
would be mastered, this, however, would not enable an individual
evaluation of the incurred situation and take appropriate measures. It
could also be complicated to get all the necessary things at the
eleventh hour, because some of them can wait for several weeks and in
some cases even several months.
